IIS-It provides better facility to run those applications which are designed in Microsoft technologies like (ASP & ASP.Net).

APACHE-It provides better facility to run those applications which are designed in open & free  technologies like (Perl & PHP).

Note-Server side scripting technologies are ASP , ASP.Net , JSP  and PHP are widely used.
